Mental Block

Ohhhh I'm so frustrated with myself right now, Ive been working on a dressing table for months now for monster miniatures and myself, trying to get it right and it's just not happening. I'm really struggling to get my head round it and get it to come out how I want right now.

I know its been ages since I last added anything new to my shop, but just to let you all know there are bits in product development stage but they just aren't developing as fast as I hoped.

I have a whole brain full of ideas for my witch's cottage at the moment and I'm hoping some of it will rub off on to here.

Right I suppose I better get back to it and quit wondering around here shuffling my feet.

New Artfire Store

New Artfire studio now open http://www.artfire.com/users/MonsterMiniatures.

With all the changes that have been going on over at Etsy I have decided not to keep all my eggs in one basket and have now opened an Artfire studio.

There's no need to sign up or register to purchase items within Artfire and there are lots of great miniaturists now exhibiting there, so please do take a wonder over with a cup of tea and your favorite comfy shopping slippers. I wont tell if you don't ;)

New Blog

I have started a new blog to follow the progress of the cottage for my Witch. Ive decided to call it 'n hen Ddraig Benty which mean Old Dragon Cottage in Welsh.

Please feel free to follow my new blog here where I have already made a start on stripping it down ready for the floors and walls to be done.

My next task is to find someone who does miniature dolls house signs as I would love a tiny slate one to go by the door.

My Favorite Piece From Miniatura

This is something that I saw on Blogger a couple of weeks before the show and I must admit I ummed and ahhed over it for the weeks leading up to it, even in the car driving to Birmingham I was still contemplating it and whilst queuing outside to get in I came to the decision that I would do the stalls in alphabetical order of the stall number and if this was still on D5 when I got there then it was obviously meant to be mine.

The Stall was Bella Belle Dolls I had I had seen it on Julies Blog

I have no plans to have a baby in my modern dolls house and have no other houses suitable for her but she reminded me so much of my daughter when she was a baby I think even had I given Julie a photo and had her commissioned I wouldn't have got a closer match, even hubby agreed when I showed her to him.

When taking pictures of her to share on here and with friends I found myself taking as many as I would have done with a real baby lol. so here are lots of picture of my new baby which doesn't have a home yet, so she might be visiting Honey Cottage with her mum for tea and cake.

More Pictures of Mags-nificent Miniatures

Helen very kindly found some more pictures that she took of Margret Cassidy's stall, there where some lovely pieces on there and looking through these picture I think I might have to ask her if I can purchase some more bits from her soon.

Kestle Kelm Miniatures

I made two stops at Kestle Kelm Miniatures as I just couldn't help going back for more.

She had a lovely stall that she kindly let Helen take pictures of

I loved her center piece on her stall

I'm now looking at the items I got and I'm thinking I should have returned for a 3rd time lol
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the skulls yet but I thought they looked really good, I bought 3 the first time and then got another 2 on my second stop lol

Here is one crystal ball that has a lovely sparkly base. I say one crystal ball as my Witch is going to have a whole array of them
I just had to have this eyeball pie because it glows in the dark!

And here are the potions that will start my Witches collection

Mags-nificent Miniatures & Dateman Books

Margret Cassidy had a beautiful stall for Mag-nificent Miniatures, with lots of wonderful witch things on and also some lovely foods and bits. She kindly let Helen take some pictures of her stall but unfortunately they didn't all come out so I am only able to show you this peek at it. You can see more of her work on her blog here

Helen got some wonderful pieces from there and I also got this little book as it was one of my last purchases I thought I was short on funds, I've since found out I still had some (that will teach me to keep a better eye on whats in my purse).

I also got this little spell book from Dateman Books, I could have spent a fortune on that stall lol

Tee - Pee Crafts

Now this was a stall you had to fight to get close too. All day it was jam packed with people and I managed to get to it just before lunch where I bumped into another friend and we discussed what we were going to try and make with our finds.

I loved all the little bits on Tee - Pee Crafts and think it has to be top of the list for most people as once you start looking your ideas just start flowing.

I got this real marble table top for the witch to have in the center of her room, I couldn't decide between the table legs they had they where either too low but perfect shape or the right hight but more suitable for a Georgen or Victorian property.

I got these two frames, a dragon and these two finding that I have plans for and a little ring for a base of a crystal ball.

I love my little haul but now I have it all home I wish I had picked up a couple more bit lol

Richard Stacey, Heidi Ott & Devon Dolls House Delights

Now onto the witches cottage...

I bought some slate from the £1 reduced stand on Richard Stacey's stall, at this point I hadn't seen the boxes in person so wasn't sure how much I would need, but having got it all home and had a little play I've got more than enough thankfully. So the witches cottage will have a real slate floor once I have worked out how to cut it without breaking too much.

At lunch I met up with some lovely friends that I have been talking to for years and Helen from Vinweeda Magic showed me some scales she bought for an apothecary she was planning to do in the future and as soon as I saw it I said to her "Ooooo you could weigh out witches potions on that", so just had to go get myself one too and some weights. These were from Heidi Ott.

Devon Dolls House Delights had lots of beautiful things on offer they had two amazing dragon beds and a carriage being pulled by a dragon. I saw this beautiful curled up dragon that I thought was so sweet. I thought it could be the witches baby dragon that had a bad spell put on him that turned him into stone by a rival witch.

Carol Smith, Shepherd Miniatures & Helen's Houses

I bought this little red toaster from Carol Smith, Unfortunately I'm having trouble photographing it but it has a spring for the toast to pop as well.

I got a dog lead from Shepherd Miniatures which had lots of lovely items on sale, a huge stall full of minis.

I also got lots of plates, side plates and bowls large and small and a jug from Helen's Houses

Although she said she wouldn't put them away until I have built her somewhere to put them

As you all know I have the Elf kitchen and I thought as I post pictures of my haul from miniatura I would keep them in the shops I bought them from so they all get the recognition of the lovely bits.

I didn't buy much from Elf yesterday but it was lovely finally getting meet Elizabeth after many emails and telephone conversations with her it was nice to be able to put a face to the voice and messages.

I did buy a lovely little sink and tap from her for a convert I'm going to do to a dressing table a friend sent me.

2 New Properties

I have two new properties. YAY!

I now have two pre loved shop boxes from a lovely friend. Ive decided to turn one into a witches cottage and I'm still deciding what to do with the other one.

In real life I am a creative assistant for a chandelier company that makes hand made chandeliers, hubby said I should make a miniature lighting shop lol but I'm not so sure about that one.

One I make a start on the witches cottage I will make another blog page for it as it wont be modern lol but until then I will share with you all the goodies I have bought for it at miniature here.

Now all I need to do is decide which shop box to use for it....

NEC Spring Miniatura

Well I'm tired and excited and buzzing all in one at the moment. Ive just got back from Spring Miniatura and I have had a wonderful time. I got to meet some great friends and wonderful artist. It was truly wonderful to be able to put voices to names and pictures lol

Ive fallen in love with a modern property, well actually three property's that I will do a blog about shortly. Ive now got two lovely shop boxes from a friend that I'm going to  renovate. I have decided to do one of these as a witches cottage, so acquired many witch and magical items on my trip. I also managed to get some small pieces for my modern dolls house.

But my favorite item of the day is a tiny baby made by Julie Campbell from Bellabelle Dolls Pictures to follow.
